Nishtar Medical University, based in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan, is a government health sciences university. It is one of Pakistan’s oldest medical institutes, having been founded shortly after the country’s independence. It provides medical, dental, allied health sciences, and nursing degree programmes. It is named after Sardar Abdur Rub Nishtar, the founder of the Pakistan movement and afterwards Governor of Punjab, Pakistan.
The university is around 3 kilometres from the city heart. The campus covers an area of 20 acres (8.1 hectares). The college is adjacent to Nishtar Hospital, one of Pakistan’s major hospitals. The campus, hospital, and hostel cover more than 112 acres in total (0.45 km2).
Multan is one of Pakistan’s oldest cities, which is reflected in the design of the college and hospital, which has lofty ceilings and huge windows. The institution itself is large, with academic departments organised around a central quadrangle. The quadrangle is a big area that is utilised for student meetings and celebrations. There is a hospital on site, as well as nearby hostels and a faculty residential colony. Both the college and the hostels are built in the style of mediaeval Islamic architecture. A. R. Hye designed the structures that were erected on the campus from the 1960s through the early 1980s.
